Darlings, HA, to the less savvy, may sound like something you don’t want to put anywhere near your face when in actual fact it is naturally occurring in the human body.
This magical substance works as a magnet for moisture, helping our cells retain as much water as possible so that our skin is, feels and appears hydrated, plump and healthy.
But, what if I told you that HA actually holds the key to young, smooth, flawless and hydrated skin?
Just a single gram of HA has the impressive ability to hold up to six litres of water! Add to that, a super smart ability to regulate that moisture within the cells, so not to drown them and you’ve got one genius ingredient.
As mentioned above, our own skin cells actually produce HA naturally to maintain moisture levels. But, thanks to the ageing process and environmental aggressors, to name just a few things flung at our faces on a daily basis, those levels tend to take a dip.
Sensitivity, dullness, fine lines and uneven tone and texture. Need I go on?
Here’s everything you need to know about the magical skincare ingredient that is Hyaluronic Acid and exactly why you should be making sure it is in your regular beautifying routine. That is, if you haven’t already.
HA does not strip or cause any downtime when applied topically. It’s a natural and powerful moisture which is a binding substance that delivers gentle hydration to where your skin needs it the most.
When to start using HA?
As we age, the amount of HA our skin cells produces begin to lessen and cell turnover becomes sluggish. This is when lines, wrinkles and rough texture tend to make an appearance.
Skin moisture can drop significantly as we age, this makes the skin lose elasticity and start exposing the signs of ageing on our skin. HA acts as the ultimate drink for your skin. Cheers, Le’Chiam or Salud ladies! Nothing wrong with this kind of cocktail first thing in the morning.
So, if you want to maintain your youthful glow, incorporating HA into your anti-aging skincare routine is definitely a good idea.
I recommend starting to use products and having treatments with HA as young as mid 20’s. Darling, one is never too young to start looking after your skin!
HA injected or applied?
So this is where we get a little more in-depth. In short, when simply applied topically, HA cannot be absorbed by our skin. Sodium hyaluronate, the salt of hyaluronic acid, which is a smaller molecule, can penetrate the skin when injected as well as when applied topically, and thus appears in fillers and topical creams and serums.
What is crossed linked or non-cross linked HA?
Non-crossed linked HA is found in topical creams and serums where cross linked HA are found in injectables.
What is Cross linked HA?
Many of us know that hyaluronic acid is one of the main ingredients found in fillers. Fillers are injected to plump up and smooth wrinkles. As mentioned above, HA also attracts and binds water, and this helps maintain fullness in the area of injection. HA dermal fillers (Cross linked HA) consist of long chains of hyaluronic acid. Most dermal filler products will consist of HA cross-linked with a chemical such as 1,4-butanedioldiglycidyl ether (BDDE) which is suspended in a physiological solution. The product is then processed as carrier gel for the Filler HA to be injected into the skin. HA fillers are predominantly injected into the subcutaneous adipose tissue, and deeper injections lead to prolonged efficacy. The effect of Cross-linked hyaluronic acid may last for six months or longer. Skin improvements can be observed even after full biodegradation of the filler, however, these volume effects will diminish.
What is Non- Crossed linked HA?
For topical hyaluronic treatments like CooLifting, the non-crossed linked Hyaluronic Acid results last up to 72hrs after treatment or application. So now you probably wondering why would anyone opt for a solution that only lasts for 3 days over injectables that last up to 6 months? Furthermore, why do some doctors prefer to treat clients with non-crossed linked HA? The answer is to increase the attraction of naturally occurring Hyaluronic in your skins natural moisture factor (NMF). Therefore, strengthening your skins own ability to retain hydration for a youthful appearance. In short, this will train your skin to naturally attract moisture.
You can have both fillers and treatments like CooLifting, just make sure you book your Microneedling 10 days before or after fillers. In addition, make sure you and your doctor are both conservative. The last thing you want is your doctor over injecting which will result in you looking a bit plastic like and your skin will stretch and sag once the HA has worn off. A liquid facelift is when the doctor injects filler and/or Botox in all different crucial areas of the face for an all round lift. Beware of those dodgy doctors that love to over inject. You get those that like to inject more units as they are charging per unit.
Try TLB’s recommendation of a course of 4 CooLifting treatments, bi-weekly and train your skin to anti-age naturally. We also like to recommend a combination of Microneedling and CooLifting directly after. With Microneedling we are creating micro channels in the skin and then directly after the high pressure CO2 of the CooLifting treatment will push the non-crossed linked HA in the skin. This helps with texture, even toning and plumping out fine lines and wrinkles. You should see some of the impressive before and after pictures of the results that have been achieved.
Benefits of Hyaluronic acid:
1. If skin is sufficiently hydrated, it feels super-soft, plump and pillowy, and looks so much more radiant. See ya, Insta-filter.
2. When skin is hydrated, lines and wrinkles (even the deeper ones) appear diminished, so it is a great ingredient for those with ageing skin who are desperate to cling on to their youthful perkiness.
3. It works wonders on everyone. Hyaluronic Acid works for any skin type, even sensitive or breakout-prone skin, as well as those with an oily complexion.
4. Recent research suggests that Hyaluronic Acid also has antioxidant properties, which means it can act like a shield against free radicals we aren’t in control of, like pollution and other aggressors.
At TLB, we have so much that is inspired from nature or inspired to naturally get the results our clients want. Firstly, all our technology facials are inspired to get ones’ skin to naturally reverse the hands of time and slow down the hands of time. By training one skin to produce its own collagen and elastin rather than injectable or surgery. Below we have listed TLB offerings to naturally enhance and improve your skin hydration with Hyaluronic. In saying this, we are not against injectables. We are all for injectables but its all around timing. When the time is right and there is a need. When you have exhausted all other avenues.
Hyaluronic treatment you need in your life right now:
CooLifting, also referred to as the original “Hollywood Beauty Gun,” is the newest non-invasive solution for facial rejuvenation. This quick treatment combines a unique concentration of hyaluronic acid and other botanicals with a cold, CO2 (carbon dioxide) spray directly onto the skin. The cool CO2 mist helps the hyaluronic solution to saturate more completely and deeply into your skin, increasing its impact.
While each of the two parts of the CooLifting process can be effective by themselves, they work better together. Skin exposed to high concentrations of carbon dioxide naturally responds by releasing more oxygen to the area, giving it a plumped appearance.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring chemical in your body that helps replenish moisture and promotes healing. During CooLifting, the cool CO2 mist activates the serum to penetrate more deeply then it could on its own.
Creating luminous and radiant skin
Hydrating and oxygenating the skin for younger-looking results
Stimulating facial skin for tightening and lifting
Skin calming after other treatments such as micro-needling
The Laser Beautique offers a Cinderella Facial which is a combination of magical cosmeceutical lotions and potions using RegimA or Nimue skincare ranges, and Near Infrared (NIR) technology.
This combination ensures to get your skin glowing instantly, revealing it revitalised and refuelled while being supplied with active ingredients that will leave you feeling and looking fit for a ball.
This is a facial designed for royalty.
NIR stimulates the infiltration of fibroblasts and the formation of new collagen, enhancing the tightening effect, and helping to boost the skin against future ageing.
You can receive a treatment and go back to work or to other activities without any recovery time.
Radio Frequency, Ultrasound:
You will experience immediate, visible, subtle to dramatic improvements. Topical treatments have limitations whereby RF (Radio Frequency), US (Ultrasound) and Near Infrared (NIR) have powerful effects on the epidermis, dermis and even the deep subcutaneous tissue.
Each technology penetrates different layers of the skin, combination treatment is always more effective and therefore we recommend alternating bi-monthly.
Ultrasound treatment safely and effectively targets, hard-to-remove, fat deposits, naturally reduces and eradicates the fat cells without damaging skin or shifting fat to other areas (examples of facial fat deposits are double chin and jowls)
Duel layer Radio Frequency stimulates the cells to restructure collagen, improve elasticity, tone, tighten and further contour the skin. The results also show a reduction in dark circles and improvement of pigmentation caused by sun damage.
In combination, these dual-layer treatments can create dramatic change without the need for invasive surgery.
Skin Needling also referred to as micro-needling and collagen induction is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. A motorised device with fine needles is used to create tiny micro channels in the top layers of the skin, which triggers the body to produce new collagen and elastin. Results include improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. Initially you can see results within 10 days and these results accumulates for a period of 3 months’ post treatment.
At The Laser Beautique we perform micro-needling treatments using a Skin Needling Pen. This professional facial procedure is performed by our Advanced Skin Care Specialist to achieve immediate and visible skin rejuvenation and renewal with long lasting effects.
This specialised rejuvenation treatment, designed for a wide range of skin conditions including sun damaged skin, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven texture, scarring and acne scarring. Micro-needling treatments stimulate collagen remodelling, improves restoration of volume and plumpness in the skin as well as treats large pores.
A course of 4-12 treatments is recommended for optimal results, this depends on the condition of one’s skin. A pen is used after numbing cream is applied. The aesthetician will then treat with the skin needling pen. Trans Dermal Solutions (TDS), ampules or specialised serums are applied directly after the skin has been treated. The skin soaks up the ampules or serums to give clients results that are long lasting and natural.
